The Health Corner Vol. 37 – Blood Sugar Issues
Once again, I would like to present a case study to you in the patient’s own words. I hope you find this interesting and informative.
“When I first came to Dr. Link several years ago, he recognized right away that I had sugar handling issues. Almost his first words to me were, ‘Your problem is not fat, it’s sugar’. I was terribly overweight and had muscle aches and pains. My emotions were all over the place. I was sluggish and constantly feeling like I might black out. Right away, he told me I must go on a low carbohydrate (carb) diet. I had been doing a low fat diet in an attempt to lose weight, but my symptoms had only gotten worse. So, I went on the low carbohydrate diet, as Dr. Link instructed, and within twenty-four hours I could feel a difference. I felt less tired and less emotionally unstable. I even experienced better breathing, and I had had asthma for 12 years prior!
“I stayed on the low carb diet and had good results from it. Then I had a reaction to a prescription drug and was hit multisystemically. One of the organs that got hit hard was the pancreas. The pancreas governs blood sugar levels to a great extent, so the blood sugar issues I had experienced previously began spinning out of control. I became very weak. I was hungry and thirsty all the time. I even had to eat during the night, so I kept a cooler by my bedside with a bit of protein and some apple in it. Sometimes my heartbeat would be so fast and weak that I could not do anything but lie still and wait for it to pass. Sometimes I felt I might faint. That was an awful feeling.
“I monitored my blood sugar with an at home monitor and found that it swung from too high to too low erratically. I knew it was my pancreas responding to the damage the drug had done, so I did not go to a doctor for any kind of testing.
“One early morning, I awoke with such terrible dizziness that even though I was lying down, just turning my head made me feel like the room was spinning out of control. My husband brought me in to Dr. Link for help. He had just started doing Nutrition Response Testing and decided he would test me to find out what was wrong. I remember he said to me, “I am going to test you, find the problem, and fix it”. I was so out of it that all I could do was look at him. I could not say anything or even nod my head. He began a reflex exam and found the exact problem and the corresponding supplements to help within minutes. I was skeptical, but that did not last long. Right there in his office he gave me the first dose of my new program and within a very short time I felt the dizziness go. I finally had my light at the end of the tunnel.
“I know that most of the time it takes a patient some time to react in a discernable way to a program of supplements. I think I was unusual in that my reaction was so quick. But I surmise this was because I was in such dire straits and my body was so happy to have what it needed, it just sort of breathed a sigh of relief when it got it!
“Dr. Link advised me on my diet before I went home. He always emphasizes diet as the most important aspect of health. The pills are just to supplement a good diet and help the body along a bit.
“Now, I continue to eat a low carb diet and have not had to take blood sugar support supplements for some time. I have plenty of energy and have even lost some weight.
“I am thankful for Dr. Link and the help he gave to me through his expert knowledge of Nutrition Response Testing.”
So, that is another case history that shows the dramatic results that can be obtained with Nutrition Response Testing. I hope you will feel free to call for your own evaluation. Perhaps you, too, will experience a significant turn around in your own health.
